About MCS

The Marian Choral Society is an institution in Tuam and its surrounding areas.

The society was formed in 1974, with an aim to sing Church and Secular music. Then, in 1977, the first musical was undertaken.

From the start, there was a commitment to take on all types of musical, from the traditional to the modern and challenging. A quick look at our previous productions page will show how successful we were in this aim.

Let the figures speak for themselves:
  • 43 years of continuous production of top quality musical theatre, concerts, themed soirees, choral productions and music based events. This is a record in the Connaught region.
  • Also 43 years of never repeating a show! Yes, that’s 43 different shows up to 2019’s production of THE PRODUCERS. This is a national record.
  • Over 1,700 people involved over those years in bringing those shows to life.
  • Almost 40,000 audience members have attended the shows over the years, not to mention people who supported all of the other events.

Many of our members have been recognised by AIMS over these years, with awards and nominations coming on a regular basis.

The most important component of the Society is the constant encouragement from the Community of Tuam, and environs. Thank you all for your support, and we will work as hard as ever to keep up the high standards for many years to come - we MIGHT have to repeat a show by that time!

We also would like to acknowledge the financial help we receive from our sponsors and patrons, without whom we could not keep going doing what we do.
